Superfood Smoothie

Does anyone feel tired today?  I call this a superfood smoothie and it may be just what you need.  Some believe the term “superfood” is just a marketing gimmick.  Others claim that superfoods are unusually healthful and may even help with some medical conditions.  I believe in moderation of almost everything.  Even if a given fruit or vegetable is healthy, I would be cautious about suggestions for extreme consumption, which I think can have unintended consequences.

But regardless of whether you think flax seeds and blueberries are superfoods, everything I have read suggests that they are overall rather good for us.  And that is why I created this tasty superfood smoothie and it only takes minutes to make.

A less common ingredient in this drink is raw red beets, which are surprisingly good for you.  Beets are known to have a high quantity of vitamin B.  Most don’t know that beets are also rich in iron and potassium.  Beets have even more health-boosting nutrients you may not know about; to learn more, check out this link.

I added some protein powder to make this a great morning or meal-replacement option, especially for busy people. Blended with almond milk and flax seeds, you have what I believe is a great, healthy vegan-friendly smoothie that will give you energy and not make you crash an hour later.  This is a great option for breakfast or an afternoon snack for adults and kids alike.
