Jamba’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

This smoothie is not healthful, but it is a tasty one. This was a special request from my oldest son. This chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie is a copycat recipe of the Jamba Juice one my son has loved for years. I talk about my boys challenging me to cook things all the time. Often random, such as the Din Tai Fung chilled cucumber salad, Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich, or even Beef Wellington, but I blame Gordon Ramsey and Copped Jr. for that one!

Either way, I do love a food challenge, and let’s face it, I would do just about anything for my boys. I was a little surprised by how much my son loved this particular smoothie because typically he prefers savory foods like I do. But this smoothie was an exception and if you are a chocolate lover you will understand why.

Jamba Juice, known now only as “Jamba”, calls their version of this smoothie PB Chocolate Love. Made with their “chocolate moo’d dairy base”, reduced fat milk, bananas, and peanut butter. In my version, I sub in whole milk, using frozen bananas, cocoa powder, and ice. Falling on the slightly less sweet side of the smoothie world, and it’s a keeper.

Jamba Juice actually started out not that far from where I live. Their first store opened in San Luis Obispo, CA, in 1990. They were a little juice shop with a big idea: they believed eating better should be easy. With made-to-order smoothies, juices, and bowls their popularity skyrocketed and has grown to over 850 locations in 35 states and 6 countries. Jamba is killing it! My copycat PB Chocolate Love may not be exactly the same, but according to my son, it’s very close and the best part, is it won’t cost you $7.50 to make it!
